BEIRUT, LEBANON — Global University, through the Office of AI Transformation (OAIT), actively participated in the recent Arab Universities AI Collaboration Meeting hosted by the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation Center (AIDTC). The virtual conference brought together academic leaders from across the Middle East to forge a unified strategy for integrating artificial intelligence into the region’s higher education ecosystem.
Mr. Nabil Mneymneh, PhD(c), Director of the Office of AI Transformation at Global University, represented the institution at the meeting. The AIDTC, an educational institution affiliated with the Union of Arab Universities and headquartered at Ajloun National University in Jordan, serves as a vital regional hub for developing research in digital transformation and stimulating innovative scientific production.
The meeting focused on establishing cross-university collaborative projects in AI, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation in education, AI ethics, and professional certification platforms. Participants from universities in Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, and Syria, among others, aligned on three major initiatives:
A key outcome of the summit was the formation of a dedicated working committee to draft a unified AI ethics policy for Arab universities. Additionally, the assembly explored strategic partnerships with global technology training providers, such as Coursera and Pluralsight, to secure international certifications and training licenses at subsidized rates for students and faculty across the Arab world.
“Our participation in the AIDTC meeting underscores Global University’s commitment to regional leadership in applied artificial intelligence,” said Mr. Nabil Mneymneh, PhD(c), Director of the Office of AI Transformation. “By collaborating with our peer institutions across the Arab world, we are not only sharing knowledge but actively building the infrastructure—from ethical frameworks to global training partnerships—that will empower the next generation of Arab innovators.”
The meeting also highlighted the success of the “AI Season” initiative, which has already delivered 26 applied courses to approximately 3,000 students across various Arab universities.
The OAIT will continue to work closely with the AIDTC and partner universities, participating in bi-weekly follow-up sessions to ensure the rapid implementation of these strategic initiatives.
