BEIRUT, LEBANON — Continuing its mission to lead the integration of advanced technologies in higher education, the Office of AI Transformation (OAIT) at Global University recently hosted its second intensive masterclass for academic faculty, titled “AI for Planning and Curriculum Design.”

The two-hour immersive workshop, led by Mr. Nabil Mneymneh, PhD(c), Director of the Office of AI Transformation, built upon the foundational knowledge established in the previous “AI for Educators” session. This second masterclass provided faculty members with advanced, actionable strategies to leverage artificial intelligence in streamlining academic planning, enhancing course structures, and elevating the overall quality of curriculum design.

The comprehensive session explored how generative AI and specialized tools can be integrated into the rigorous processes of academic development. Key areas of focus included:

• AI-Assisted Syllabus Generation: Utilizing AI to rapidly prototype comprehensive course outlines, define clear learning objectives, and structure semester-long pacing.
• Curriculum Mapping and Alignment: Demonstrating how AI models can ensure course content aligns seamlessly with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and established frameworks like Bloom’s Taxonomy.
• Automated Rubric and Assessment Design: Training faculty to prompt AI for the creation of detailed, multi-level grading rubrics that ensure objective and consistent student evaluation.
• Backward Design Optimization: Applying AI to support the “Backward Design” methodology, starting with desired learning outcomes and using AI to reverse-engineer appropriate assessments and instructional activities.

“The integration of AI into curriculum design is not about replacing the educator’s expertise; it is about amplifying it,” stated Mr. Nabil Mneymneh, PhD(c), Director of the Office of AI Transformation. “By automating the structural and administrative heavy lifting of course planning, we empower our faculty at Global University to dedicate more time to what truly matters: deep student engagement, innovative teaching, and impactful research.”

The workshop featured live demonstrations of prominent AI platforms, guiding faculty through practical exercises where they generated customized lesson plans and assessment tools tailored to their specific disciplines.

This masterclass is a core component of the OAIT’s AI Academy initiative, which aims to equip Global University’s educators with the cutting-edge skills necessary to thrive in the modern educational landscape.
